Description
The present Volume contains the chronological series of the Despatches and Correspondence of the Marquess Wellesley relative to his Lordship’s administration of the Supreme Government of India, from January 1801 to August 1805, when his Lordship embarked for Europe. It embraces an examination of the treaties of peace concluded with Dowlut Rao Scindiah and the Rajah of Berar; an explanation of the events which occurred subsequent to the ratification of those treaties ; and of the contests with Jeswunt Rao Holkar and the Rajah of Bhurtpore. The endowments for the Mogul Emperor and his family are specified. The advantages resulting from the foundation of the College of Fort Willian\are demonstrated.
