A circa 1770 Faizabad style drawing of the Third battle of Panipat which took place on 13 January 1761. The centre of the image is dominated by the twin arcs of the lines of guns firing at each other with smoke and devastation in between. The names of the principal combatants are written in Persian. Ahmad Shah Durrani is shown riding a brown horse, Najib Khan and Shuja-ud-Daula are seen on the left; Ahmad Khan Bangash and Hafiz Rahmat Khan are on the right and before them a cavalry attack is being executed by Shah Wali Khan. Scenes of rape and other atrocities are depicted within the camp while outside, a wounded Sadashivrao Bhau is being helped from his horse.
