Description
A map of British India at the close of the Government of Warren Hastings. Hastings was the Governor–General of Bengal from 1773 to 1785 under the East India Company, accused of corruption (acquitted in 1795). This map is color–coded to show the British dominions at the time, including Bengal, Bombay, Circars, Madras, and Trincomalee in Ceylon (Sri Lanka), the Mahratta States, the Native States of Sindh, Sikhs, Rajpootana, Oudh, Cutch, Nizams Dominions, Dominions of Hyder Ali, Carnatic, Cochin, and Travancore, the French possessions of Chandernagore, Mahe, and Pondicherry, and the Portuguese possessions of Goa and Diu Island. The map shows major cities, terrain, and rivers of the region.
