What did the Great Mughals wear?

Mughal rulers took a keen interest in fashion and textiles. In keeping with their love of splendor, Mughal clothes were made of expensive materials such as brocade and silk. They were richly woven or embroidered with gold and silver thread, known as zari, and encrusted with precious stones. Jewelry and ornaments were often made from gold set with gemstones, such as emeralds, rubies, and diamonds. The Mughal Empire was famous around the world for its riches. The beautiful dyed and printed fabrics that were common in Mughal India were exported to Europe, where they became highly fashionable. Many Indian words for cloth and types of clothing were introduced into the English language, including chintz and pyjamas.
