Karuna is a Village in Harlakhi Block in Madhubani District of Bihar State, India. It belongs to Darbhanga Division . It is located 36 KM towards North from District head quarters Madhubani. 8 KM from Harlakhi. 168 KM from State capital Patna


Muhammad Hidayat Afza, Ilahi Bakhsh Bahadur. b. at Delhi, 1809, second son of Mirza Muhammad Shuja’at Afza Bahadur [Mirza Bhubhu or Bhutchoo], by his second wife, Khair un-nisa Begum Sahiba, educ. privately. Materially assisted the British forces during the Mutiny, attempted to save the lives of Christians as well as provided intelligence on the activities of the mutineers, cut their bridge of boats across the Jumna, and brought about the peaceful surrender of the King of Delhi. Granted a pension of Rs. 22, 830 p.a. for these and other services. Received a jagir in 1861 together with the revenue of several villages in Delhi and Meerut districts. Recognised by the GOI as the Chief Representative of the Royal House of Delhi, 1858. Rcvd: Prince of Wales’s silver medal (1876) and KIH silver medal (1877). m. (first) Nawab Abadi Begum Sahiba (d. before 1891), née Shahzadi Zainat un-nisa Begum Sahiba, widow of Mirza Nazim Bakht Bahadur, and daughter of Shahzada Mirza Muhammad Salim Shah Bahadur, by his first wife, Shahzadi Malika-i-Qamar Sharah Begum Sahiba, daughter of Shahzada Mirza Muhammad Sulaiman Shikoh Bahadur. m. (second) Nawab Ashraf un-Nisa Khanum (b. 1810; d.s.p. at Delhi, 12th December 1889), widow of Mirza Muhammad Zia Bakht Bahadur, and daughter of Muhammad Nur Khan. m. (third) Mussumat Nawab Husaini Begum Sahiba (b. 1812; d. 1857), eldest daughter of Mirza Muhammad Kaikhushru Bahadur, by his wife, Husain Jahan Begum Sahiba, daughter of Shahzada Mirza Firuz Bakht Bahadur. m. (fourth) Nawab Zinat ‘Ala Ashraf uz-Zamani Begum Sahiba [Manjli Begum] (b. 1814; d. before 1891), daughter of Shahzada Mirza Muhammad Bakhsh Bahadur. m. (fifth) Nawab Khatum uz-Zamani Begum Sahiba [Manjhu Begum] (d. after 1891). m. (sixth) at Delhi, 1859, Nawab Fakhr uz-Zamani Begum Sahiba (b. 1837; d. before 1891), widow of Mirza Muhammad Muin ud-din, and daughter of Gauhar. m. (seventh) Razi un-nisa Begum Sahiba (d. before 1891). m. (eighth) Bari Begum. He d. at Delhi, 21st March 1878, having had issue, three sons and three daughters:

  • 1) Shahzada Mirza Muhammad Sulaiman Shah Bahadur, Gorkhani, Chief Representative of the Royal House of Delhi (s/o Abadi Begum) - see below.

  • 2) Shahzada Mirza Muhammad Kaiwan Shah, Gorkhani, Suraya Jah Bahadur [Haji Hafiz Mirza], Chief Representative of the Royal House of Delhi (s/o Abadi Begum) - see below.

  • 1) Shahzadi Sarwar Sultan Begum Sahiba [Nawab Hatim uz-Zamani Begum Sahiba]. b. 1837 (d/o Abadi Begum). m. (first) H.R.H. Shahzada Mirza Muhammad Sultan Ghulam Fakhr ud-din, Fath ul-Mulk Shah Bahadur, Wali Ahad Bahadur (b. at the Red Fort, Delhi, 1816; d. from cholera, at the Red Fort, Delhi, 10th July 1856), son of H.M. Abu’l-Muzaffar Siraj ud-din Muhammad Bahadur Shah II Padshah Ghazi, King of Delhi, by his wife, Rahim Bakhsh Bai. m. (second) after 1856, Mirza Mahmud Sultan Bahadur. She d. at Delhi, 1875, having had issue, one daughter, by her first husband - see above.

  • 2) Nawab Munir uz-Zamani Begum Sahiba [Mah Siti Begum]. b. 1839 (d/o Husaini Begum). m. at the Red Fort, Shajahanabad, Delhi, 1851, Colonel Shahzada Mirza Muhammad ‘Abu Bakar, Bakhtawar Shah Bahadur (b. at the Red Fort, Shajahanabad, Delhi, 1837; k. (executed) at Delhi, 13th October 1857), son of H.M. Muhammad ‘Abu-Zafar Siraj ud-din ‘Abdu’l-Muzaffar Bahadur Shah II Padshah-i-Ghazi, Emperor of India, by Rajun, a Khawas. She d. at Delhi, August 1920, having had issue, one son – see above.

  • 3) Nawab Said uz-Zamani Begum Sahiba (d/o Manjli Begum). m. Shahzada Mirza Farkhunda Jamal Bahadur (b. at Delhi, 1854; d. after 1916), second son of H.R.H. Shahzada Mirza Muhammad Sultan Ghulam Fakhr ud-din, Fath ul-Mulk Shah Bahadur, Wali Ahad Bahadur, by his wife, Nawab Shah uz- Zamani Begum Sahiba. She d.s.p. at Delhi, 9th August 1922 - see above.
