Description
The late Professor Dowson rightly described the Madf1lir-ut-Umara as 'the Peerage of the Mughal Empire', and remarked 'It consists of a Biographical Dictionary of the illustrious men who have flourished in Hindustan and the Dakhin under the house of T"uniir from Akbar to 1155 A.H. ' He described it as the work of Shah Nawaz Khan I;la.m~m-ud Daula, and referred to its two manuscript editions.
