The story of the incarceration of Maharani Jind Kaur ‘(popularly known as Mai Jindan) , the mother of Maharaja Duleep Singh, in the fort of Lahore, her removal from there to the fort of Sheikhupura as a State prisoner and her ultimate banishment from the Panjab is very tragic.
