Description
ANOTHER Collection of intercepted Dispatches and Letters is submitted to the curiosity of the PubIic. They were taken on board the !lope, homeward-bound Eas~ Indiaman, captured by Rear-Admiral LINOIS, and sent by the Governor-General of the Mauritius to France, where they were published a few days ago in the Moniteur.
The information they contain upon the situation of our affairs. i~ India, the rise and progress, the causes and. objects of the Mahratta War, is most curious and important : they prove, too, that during the Peace, French Emissaries~ or Commercial Colonels as they have been called, were sent to India, to intrigue with the Native Powers, to indispose them to our interests, and to 'stir them up to declare War against us.
