Description
THE-Army encamped about two miles from the south west side of the town of Bhurtpoor, and consisted of: His Majesty's Dragoons - 8th, 27th, and 29th Regiments, each of four weak squadrons, altogether not above 800 effective men. H. C.'s Native Cavalry — 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 6th Regiments, each of three squadrons, but altogether not above 1,600 effective men.
European Infantry — The two flank companies of His Majesty's 22nd Regiment, H. M.'s 75th and 76th Regiments of Foot, and the H. C.'s European Regiment, in all about 1,000 effective men. H.C.'s Native Infantry - 1st Battalion 2nd Regiment, 1st Battalion 8th Regiment, 1st and 2nd Battalions 12th Regiment, 1st and 2nd Battalions 15th Regiment, six companies of 2nd Battalion 21st Regiment, and 2nd Battalion 22nd Regiment : in all about 4,400 effective men.
