Introduction

Praise be to God, Lord of the worlds, and may blessings and peace be upon the best of his creation and those who follow him with kindness until the Day of Judgment.

As for after, the life of Iraq is very important to us to know. We may reach it from various ways, and many means, but we are not easily able to identify its conditions in its calmness, irritation, joy, war, wealth, poverty, and the faces of its culture and civilization ... and these are close to history. Those who are hostile to him, or ignorant of his matter, shall be mistaken as he remains oblivious to this life in its many phases and different situations.

We tried to discern these, and learn about them as much as we can, but in any case we found them separated in the (history books), so we decided to compose them and reunite them. Perhaps it was the means for correct knowledge. If it is compared to what we see, and with what we perceive of conditions that are complementary in all respects.

Pages of that went through us in the preceding parts. This is a next page to it, leading to the purpose. And in it what complements that and clarifies what is hidden, starting from the year 1049 AH - 1639 CE and ending at the end of the year 1162 AH - 1749 CE, and in these types of facts, the colors of knowledge.

المقدمة

الحمد لله ربّ العالمين ، والصلاة والسلام على خير خلقه ومن تبعه بإحسان إلى يوم الدين.

أما بعد فإن حياة العراق تهمنا معرفتها كثيرا. ولعلنا نتوصل إليها من طرق شتى ، ووسائل عديدة ، ولكننا لا يتيسر لنا بسهولة أن نعين حالاتها في هدوئها ، وفي تهيجها ، وفرحها ، وحربها وثروتها وفقرها ، ووجوه ثقافتها وحضارتها ... وهذه يقربها التاريخ. ويخطىء من يعاديه ، أو يجهل أمره إذ يبقى غافلا عن هذه الحياة في أطوارها العديدة ، وأوضاعها المختلفة.

حاولنا أن نتبين هذه ، ونعلم عنها ما نستطيع ، ولكننا في كل الأحوال وجدناها مفرقة في (كتب التاريخ) ، فعزمنا على تأليفها وجمع شملها. وربما كانت الوسيلة للمعرفة الصحيحة. فإذا قورنت بما نشاهد ، وبما ندرك من أوضاع تكاملت من كافة الوجوه.

مرت بنا صفحات من ذلك في أجزاء سبقت. فهذه صفحة تالية لها ، مؤدية إلى الغرض. وفيها ما يكمل تلك ، ويوضح ما خفي وتبدأ من سنة ١٠٤٩ ه‍ ـ ١٦٣٩ م وتنتهي بأواخر سنة ١١٦٢ ه‍ ـ ١٧٤٩ م ، وفي هذه ضروب الوقائع ، وألوان المعرفة.
