DESCRIPTION
He was born in 1775 and succeeded to the title in 1837. Bahadur Shah was virtually a pensioner of the East India Company and his authority was limited to his palace. On 11 May he accepted the leadership of the rebels and was proclaimed Emperor of Hindustan. Source: Indian History Guy
