Bank of Delhi was attacked by mortar and gunfire. Part of a portfolio of photographs taken in 1858 by Major Robert Christopher Tytler and his wife, Harriet, at Delhi, Lucknow and Cawnpore in the aftermath of the Uprising of 1857.The Uprising of 1857-58 in Northern India inspired a number of photographers to depict the aftermath of this momentous event. There were violent reprisals on either side, focussing on the cities of Cawnpore, Lucknow and Delhi. Robert and Harriet Tytler took over 500 paper negatives in India, particularly of the principal sites of the Mutiny and were present during the siege of Delhi. This is a view of the building of the Bank of Delhi which was damaged by gunfire and mortar during the Uprising of 1857.
