DESCRIPTION
Fort of Kalpi Kalpi, standing on a precipitous rock that rises from the Jumna, on the right bank of the river, was the last stronghold of the rebels. It became the meeting place of their leaders including Rao Saheb, Tatya Tope, Rani of Jhansi and the Nawab of Banda. Kalpi was evacuated by them on 23 May 1858 after their forces had suffered a number of military reverses. Pahu Lai’s Temple The Rani of Jhansi lived here during her brief sojourn at Kalpi,
