Ghazi-ud-din Haider, Nawab of Oudh (Awadh), by Robert Hume, 1819 During the eighteenth century the Nawabs of Oudh (present day Awadh) became more independent as the Moghul Empire fell apart. Finally in 1814 the Nawab Ghazi-ud-din Haider declared himself the first Nawab of Oudh (Awadh).
