DESCRIPTION
Fig. 105: THE MAGAZINE AND CHRISTIAN CEMETERY AT DELHI, photograph by Robert and Harriet Tytler, 1858. The magazine for munitions occupied the southern part of the former mansion of Dara Shikoh on the river north of the Red Fort. The magazine itself was blown up by its defenders in 1857 but the walls survived to be photographed. They have been fortified in an extraordinarily mediaeval European way reminiscent of an Italian fortress. At the south end is an old Christian cemetery. British Library, London, Photo 193/(3).

MUGHAL IMAGES
The Mughal Images immediately took a much greater interest in realistic portraiture than was typical of Persian miniatures. Animals and plants were the main subject of many miniatures for albums and were more realistically depicted. To upload your images click here.
