The Golden Mosque of Nawab Javed Khan, by Thomas Daniell, 1789. Thomas Daniell and his nephew William were the first professional topographical artists to reach Delhi in 1789. Their 144 aquatint views of Delhi. Thomas's drawings done on the spot and washed within the next few months are often more interesting than the prints. This view is of the small Golden Mosque built in the name of Qudsiya Begum by Nawab Javed Khan in 1747 outside the Delhi Gate of the Red Fort (visible on the right).
