Description
Ali Shir Navayi born in 1441 in Herat, was a Turkic poet, writer, politician, linguist, and mystic, who was the greatest representative of Chagatai literature. He lived in the Timurid era and left a lasting impact on Central Asian literature. Navayi self-identified as a Turk in Muhakamat al-lughatain, where he argued that Turki was a “superior” language to Persian, especially due to its flexibility.
